ARUNA is a developmental non-profit organisation that has been engaged in community development and social capital building across the state of Odisha, India, since 1994.
Guided by a strong value-based philosophy, ARUNA upholds the dignity and rights of every citizen, promotes equity and inclusion in all its interventions, and fosters meaningful citizen participation in local development processes.

ARUNA is a non-profit organisation operating in the Indian state of Odisha. The organisation works across a wide spectrum of development priorities, including Health, HIV & AIDS, Child Rights and Protection, Education, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Action, and research to inform evidence-based policies. ARUNA advances its mission through meaningful partnerships with diverse stakeholders including; women, children, youth, adolescents, migrants, sexual minorities, people living with HIV, academic institutions and scholars, government and development organisations—ensuring a collaborative, community-driven, and sustainable development approach.

Three decades of transformative work creating lasting change in communities across Odisha
Declining HIV Spread in Ganjam
ARUNA has played a pivotal role in significantly declining HIV transmission in Ganjam district through targeted interventions and the Link Workers Scheme. Our comprehensive approach includes awareness, prevention, HIV testing, treatment linkages, and continuous follow-up among migrant populations.
Eliminating Paediatric HIV
Significant contribution to declining Mother-to-Child Transmission (MTCT) of HIV in Ganjam and across Odisha. Through timely community mobilization and PPTCT services, we ensure pregnant women living with HIV access early diagnosis and comprehensive care.
Children Affected by HIV
Engaged with over 800 children affected by HIV & AIDS through health, education, and skill-building initiatives. Our rehabilitation efforts operate at both community and institutional levels, ensuring holistic development.
Adolescent Health Networks
Established 420 Teen Clubs across Ganjam and Koraput districts, addressing adolescent health, sexual reproductive health, and child development. These platforms create safe spaces for dialogue, learning, and leadership.
